Prof.
Nissen is an avid researcher and incessant learner. He has been recognized
for exceptional research productivity and results, and he feels comfortable
across a whole life cycle of research methods (e.g., theoretical, qualitative,
computational experimentation, laboratory experimentation, field
experimentation, implementation, action research & consulting). Mark
truly enjoys mentoring and teaching also. He has been recognized for
exceptional classroom innovation, and he has mastered the art and science
of developing and teaching distance-learning courses, particularly those
that require active student interaction and peer learning (e.g., seminar
style). Dr. Nissen serves his internal and external communities as well. He
serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals, co-chairs
numerous conference tracks, reviews an uncountable number of manuscripts,
and participates in many administrative roles within the university and
volunteer activities in the community.
