Greg Mislick is a Senior Lecturer at the Naval Postgraduate School, in the Operations Research (OR) Department in Monterey, California. His expertise is in life cycle cost estimating and modeling, probability and statistics, regression analysis, learning curves, data analysis, and optimization, as well as Marine Corps and aviation issues. He has been teaching at NPS since August 2000, while also serving as Program Officer of the OR Department; Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Operational and Information Sciences (GSOIS); and has been the Operations Research Chair of Cost Analysis since 2006. He is also a joint faculty member with the Systems Engineering Department. He has served as Program Manager for JIEDDO at NPS, and is presently the Co-Program Manager for the Masters in Cost Estimating and Analysis (MCEA) curriculum. He holds a BS in Mathematics from the US Naval Academy, and his primary Masters degree is from NPS in Operations Research.
Greg is a retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel, serving for 26 years and four overseas deployments with 3,000 pilot flight hours, mostly in CH-46E helicopters. His military expertise is mainly in Operations, and he served as Executive Officer, plus Operations Officer and Logistics Officer on overseas deployments. He worked at the Marine Corps Research, Development and Acquisition Command (now MARCORSYSCOM) for three years primarily in the cost estimation and test and evaluation fields. He has been an Advisor, Co-Advisor or Second Reader on numerous theses at NPS, mostly in the cost estimating arena. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Military Operations Research Society, and the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) (formerly the Society for Cost Estimating and Analysis). He was a finalist at NPS for the Hamming Faculty Teaching Award for Interdisciplinary Achievement. He is a graduate of Leadership Monterey Peninsula (LMP), a Board member for both LMP and the Big Sur Marathon, and is Race Director for the "JUST RUN" Kids 3k race (3,500+ kids) held twice per year in Monterey. He is also the Elite Runner Coordinator for the highly competitive Big Sur Half Marathon. He is an accomplished distance runner, having completed 28 marathons, with a personal best time of 2:25.21. |
