Major Chad Seagren, USMC, Assistant Professor & OAD Liaison Officer

Chad SeagrenBrief Bio

Chad was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Systems Engineering in 1998.  He accepted a commission in the Marine Corps and received training as an Aviation Supply Officer.  He reported to Marine Air Group 13 in Yuma, AZ and served on group staff as the Fiscal Officer.  In the summer of 2001 he reported to the Naval Postgraduate School to pursue graduate studies in Operations Research.  Upon graduation in 2003, he served as an Operations Analyst at HQMC, Manpower & Reserve Affairs in Quantico, VA.  While there, he began graduate studies in Economics at George Mason University.  In December 2006, he reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29, where he served as Assistant Aviation Supply Officer on the squadron’s deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2007 to January 2008.  After returning from deployment, he was named the squadron’s Aviation Supply Officer and remained in that position for the duration of his tour.  In the fall of 2009, he successfully defended his dissertation and graduated from GMU with a Ph.D. in Economics.  In January 2010, Major Seagren accepted his current position as Assistant Professor of Operations Research at the Naval Postgraduate School. 

Research Interests

My research applies microeconomic theory to matters of politics, public policy, law, labor markets, and the macroeconomy.  Most broadly, my research agenda focuses on issues at the intersection of the domains of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
