Matt Gough - Research Associate - Naval Postgraduate School

I am currently working for Dr. Peter Chu and Dr. Jamie MacMahan on a number of projects including:.

- Quantifying the scour-liquefaction burial of munitions by surface gravity waves (SERDP).
- Modulation of significant wave heights by tidal currents, inertial currents, and diurnal wind forcing (SERDP).
- Temperature variability, internal tidal bores, and inner shelf dynamics (Inner-Shelf DRI)

Other research interests include coastal upwelling dynamics and its affect on biological productivity, the application of HF radar and numerical modeling for oil spill management, the application of Lagrangian Coherent Structures nearshore processes and beach erosion, large scale waves such as Continental Shelf and Poincare Waves, sea surface dispersion mechanisms and KE wavenumber spectra verification of Surface Quasi-Geostrophic Theory.
