Project 3 |
Project Goals:
In this project we address the the use of the Discrete Cosine
Transform for data compression. In particular you will learn the
following:
- for a given signal, how to
compute the DCT by blocks
- how to store the resulting data
as binary files
- how tor reconstruct the data
using the Inverse DCT (IDCT)
- how the compressed data compares
with the uncompressed data, in terms of quality and file size
