JB Cyclonic Gyre

A large-scale cyclonic recirculation gyre over the JB is simulated with a strong seasonal variation. This gyre is easily identified by the volume transport streamfunction (Fig. 4). The JB gyre is the strongest and recirculates 8 Sv in the winter. It weakens and retreats northward in the spring and summer. In the fall, the cyclonic JB gyre disappears and weak anticyclonic eddies appears.
