This course focuses on modeling and simulation (M&S) issues in ocean environments. While the virtue environments (VEs) serve as M&S tools, the difference between VEs and real-time ocean environments can often the cause of the distortion of the physical reality. The design of effective VE system depends on an understanding of physical environments and their impact on human behavior and M&S. This course will study the basic physics of the ocean environments, visualization of ocean from satellite, visualization of ocean from Navy METOC model output, METOC information flow in M&S, impacts of environment on human behavior, M&S, and real physically-based modeling.
