Shape correlation of low-frequency underwater sounds

Abstract

We describe computational methods for matching 1 to 100 hz sonar sounds between hydrophones located several hundred kilometers apart. This is particularly useful for locating calls of large whales, but can be used for any sounds with short durations and distinct shapes.
