LTC Michelle IsenhourASSISTANT PROFESSOR,
Operations Research Department

PHD, Computational Science and Informatics, George Mason University, 2016

LTC Isenhour is currently an Assistant Professor in the Operations Research Department at the Naval Postgraduate School where she teaches statistics and conducts research on pedestrian movement, multi-scale crowd control and management, evacuation dynamics, and innovative methods in education.

LTC Isenhour has more than 23 years of service as a commissioned officer, including two overseas deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. She joined the NPS faculty in July of 2017 and comes to NPS with experience teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics at Western Michigan University, while deployed for the University of Maryland College-Europe, and for the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy.

Her research focuses on the microscopic modeling and simulation of pedestrian movements and crowd dynamics. This is a new and interesting research topic, at the intersection of psychology, mechanics, numerical methods, modeling, parallel computing, visualization, measuring techniques and evaluation, as well as data mining. She has presented at three international conferences and published six papers in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings.
