General Domain Decomposition

Since NUMA can read it any hexahedra-based grid, the domain decomposition strategy has to be as general as possible. Below, we show some sample decompositions for the three most used grids in NUMA: the standard mesoscale grid, the icosahedral grid, and the hexahedral (i.e., cubed-sphere) grid. NUMA uses a hybrid domain decomposition based on METIS graph-partitioning with an ad hoc geometric approach.
