Wetting and Drying with NUMA

New Grids on the Sphere: Pictures
NRC Postdocs Simone Marras and Michal Kopera have been working on new grids for the sphere. Here is an example of a latitude-longitude Gaussian grid for use in our NUMA model. Note that the grid is a reduced latitude-longitude grid.
New Grids on the Sphere: Simulations
NRC Postdocs Simone Marras used the new grid to make the following simulations of an advective tracer on the sphere using NUMACOM_SPHERE

NUMACOM is a component of NUMA which solves the planar shallow water equations. NUMACOM stands for NUMA-Coastal Ocean Model and is meant as a research tool to study tsunamis, storm-surges, idealized tropical cyclones, and other coastal ocean phenomena.

NUMACOM uses both CG and DG methods on adaptive grids using quadrilaterals. NUMACOM also includes wetting and drying algorithms and here we show some classical results.
